Yesterday, it was the "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End" trailer and 12 minutes of "Ratatouille" footage; today, the scoop from ShoWest — courtesy of IGN Movies — is a 20-minute glimpse of "Transformers."
Those in attendance at the event — which was prefaced with remarks from director Michael Bay — were treated to three scenes from the soon-to-be blockbuster, featuring appearances from stars Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, and Shia LeBeouf. But who cares about the actors, right?
What really matters are the robots, and IGN got an eyeful of a few, including Blackout, Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and Scorponok. We won’t divulge the rest — and when you click over to IGN, be certain to heed their spoiler warnings if you prefer not to know much about your big-budget summer action flicks before you see them — but if these 20 minutes are anything to judge by, "Transformers" will be vintage Michael Bay. In other words, lots of action, some humor, and a ton of special effects. (For an additional point of reference, IGN scribe Steven Horn made two "Bad Boys II" comparisons.)
"Transformers" arrives in theaters July 4.
