Full Frontal Bart in The Simpsons Movie

Take that, MPAA...

The Simpsons Movie is not an R rated affair like the South Park movie. They did not go overboard on profanity or racy content, but they did manage to slip some full frontal nudity in the film.

In an extended visual gag, the payoff results in Bart Simpson’s little ten year old package bared before the camera.

“We do lots of different kinds of jokes,” explained producer Mike Scully. “My particular favorite kind is when we set up something where we’re deliberately leading the audience to what they think the joke is, like the reveal of Bart at the end of the skateboard sequence.”

The sequence in question has Bart dared to skateboard naked. As he rides along, various objects of scenery cover his private parts. On TV, that would be the whole joke, but not in a film.

“The audience thinks the whole joke is how many different ways can we hide Bart, and then to give them the little extra. Let them think we’re doing to do this joke and do the other.”

The Simpsons Movie is rated PG-13 “for irreverant humor throughout.” See it this Friday.
