Talk about a harbinger of Doom! Variety reports on the comedy of errors that was the NYC Gala Premiere of "Fantastic Four" — and this mess of an evening could make a movie all by itself! First off, the screening was to be held outdoors on Liberty Island…
But then the rains came.
Press, Fox folks, cast & crew, and moviegoers in general were forced to wait the storm out, but then the ferries were crowded, the seats were soaked, the red carpet festivities ran late, the screen was nearly ruined, and then … a fireworks show.
The flick finally started at 10:20 … but the projector broke down less than 15 minutes into the movie. And then everyone went home.
But if the studio is worried about the premiere … just wait till they see the "Fantastic Four" reviews. (Presently 19% on the Tomatometer: 11 positive & 46 negative, with an average critical rating of 4.2 out of 10 … and a lot more reviews yet to come.)
