ComingSoon.net clarifies the most recent flurry of summertime release date alterations, but the overall result is this: July 8th now belongs to the "Fantastic Four" and nobody else. Sony recently announced that they’d be moving their "Bewitched" up a few weeks. The Nicole Kidman / Will Ferrell comedy will now open on June 24th, directly opposite "Herbie: Fully Loaded" and "The Dukes of Hazzard." The irony is that, not too long ago, "Fantastic Four" was due to go head-to-head with Steven Spielberg’s "War of the Worlds," but jumped ahead to July 8th. With "Bewitched" ceding the early-July terrain, that gives the family of genetic superfreaks the weekend all to itself! (Until the next batch of release date shifts, anyway!)
