Director Locked Up for Saw 5 and Saw 6

Sixth Saw sequel stretches slimy series

Back when the Saw producers were looking for someone to helm the third sequel, production designer David Hackl was #1 on their list — until Darren Lynn Bousman came back. But the guy may get his chance yet.

According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, Mr. Hackl has been signed to direct not only Saw 5 … but Saw 6 also. Yep, early plans seem to be in motion for the next two sequels of the tummy-churning horror franchise. (And since I liked the first three flicks, I’ll hold my judgments for now.)

Fans can (of course) expect Bousman’s Saw 4 to hit theaters this October with an audible whack — and undoubtedly a nice little ka-ching at the box office. Everyone seems to think the “hardcore horror” phase is over, but I won’t believe that until a Saw flick fails to turn a tidy profit.
