142-year-old film producer Dino De Laurentiis recently dropped some remake news: This time it’ll be Roger Vadim‘s "Barbarella" (which helped to launch Jane Fonda‘s career in rather sexy style) to get a fresh coat of paint. Oh, but don’t mention the word "remake" around ol’ Dino. He’d NEVER do a remake of a classic, would he?
The chatter comes from ComingSoon.net, who got it from NBC: Dino Dee wants a new "Barbarella," but he won’t call it a remake. It’s an all-new Barb, apparently, and the producer promises components like "love, sex and adventure." So it could be like an episode of "The Love Boat," basically.
No word yet on who’ll be producing, writing, directing, or starring in the new "Barbarella," but I’ve heard this tune before. This project will be back on a dusty shelf before Dino signs paycheck number one. Oh, and I was only kidding about the 142. He’s actually only 88.
But a few decades age he sure did produce one amazing turkey of a remake, didn’t he?
