"Die Hard 4" Has A Release Date -- And A New Title??

It’s been ten years in the making, and finally it seems John McClane is ready for his comeback. Get ready to see the fourth film in the "Die Hard" series when it hits theaters on the Fourth of July weekend, 2007!

20th Century Fox is pitting the ultimate cool action hero (John McClane) against the ultimate cool 1980s cartoon ("Transformers") in a July 4th battle for the hearts and ticket sales of that key summertime demographic: guys. Good thing they’re announcing it now, because it may take many of you ten whole months of deliberation to decide which flick you’ll see opening weekend.

Star Bruce Willis will of course be returning, and at the helm will be director Len Wiseman ("Underworld"), who was himself a young, impressionable lad of 15 when the first "Die Hard" opened in 1988.

Also new: the title. According to Variety, the filmmakers have apparently scrapped the amusing, Van Damme-esque working title of "Die Hard 4: Die Hardest" and even "Die Hard: 4.0" in favor of something fresher: "Live Free or Die Hard."

The plot will bring New York tough cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) in to the 21st century as McClane faces off with a new kind of terrorist: terrorists of the internet! The technologically-inclined baddies are hatching some plot to override RT’s message boards with flame wars and crash our servers and…just kidding. They’re really hatching some despicable plot to crash the entire country’s computer infrastructure, and it’s up to John McClane to stop them.

Production on "Live Free or Die Hard" is set to begin shooting in September.
