Brad Pitt is heading into the Amazon.
Variety reports that Paramount has purchased the film rights to David Grann’s Lost City of Z, with Pitt attached to produce — and possibly star. From the article:
Grann’s forthcoming nonfiction book concerns British explorer Col. Percy Harrison Fawcett, who was attempting to find the so-called City of Z when he and his party disappeared in 1925. Over the next 70 years, scores of explorers tried and failed to retrace Fawcett’s path, including a 1996 expedition of Brazilian adventurers. Pitt would play Fawcett.
As Variety notes, Lost City of Z joins a relatively crowded slate of acting and producing projects for Pitt. He’ll be seen onscreen twice this year — in the Coen brothers’ Burn After Reading, opening in September, and David Fincher‘s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, reaching screens in December — and is producing the Rachel McAdams/Eric Bana-led adaptation of The Time Traveler’s Wife.
