New Shows Ordered by ABC:

In How to Get Away with Murder, produced by Shonda Rhimes, Viola Davis is a law-school professor who, along with four of her students, get mixed up in murderous mysteries.

American Crime, from John Ridley (12 Years a Slave), is about racial issues in Modesto after a major crime.

Black-ish is a single-camera comedy starring Anthony Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, and Tracee Ellis Ross. In a mostly-white upper-middle-class neighborhood, a family tries not to lose its black cultural identity.

Galavant is another fairy-tale show, but this one’s a musical. Original songs will be written by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater. It will start Vinnie Jones (The Cape) and Timothy Omundson (Psych).

Forever stars True Blood‘s Deborah Ann Woll and Luke Grimes (also of True Blood and Brothers and Sisters). The premise? A medical examiner has been alive for 200 years.

Manhattan Love Story, another single-camera comedy, focuses on a new couple, examining how men and women are different when their thoughts are unfiltered.

Marvel’s Agent Carter will star Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, the role she played in Captain America. In 1946, after she loses her loved one, she deals with office politics and secret missions.

Secrets & Lies is the American version of an Australian show of the same name. This one stars Ryan Phillippe, Kate Ashield and Steven Brand. A man goes jogging and discovers a boy’s dead body, quickly becoming the prime suspect. To the detriment of his reputation and his family, he tries to find the actual killer and just might lose his mind too.

In the thoroughly modern Selfie, Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan) is an instantly-famous social media celebrity obsessed with getting ‘likes.’

The Whispers, formerly The Visitors, is produced by Steven Spielberg. Lily Rabe (American Horror Story) and Milo Ventimiglia star in this alien invasion story.
