Want to know if your favorite television series is among the latest cancelled TV shows? Bookmark this page to learn about Netflix cancelled shows, when network series get the axe, and which cable TV limited series are being reworked as anthologies to squeeze every single drop of fan love out of them.

How it works: Renewals are obvious: new season = yay! When a network or streaming service announces that they’re not making another season of a show, however, we count that as cancelled (or “canceled” if you spell it without SEO considerations). Sure, some shows “come to a natural end,” but someone somewhere said “enough,” and to avoid endless discussions about whether a title was “cancelled” or “retired” — “Daredevil and Empire were cancelled, but Game of Thrones died peacefully of old age!” — we’re going with the one designation. Feel free to debate specific titles in the comments if you wish. But first, learn which series will live on, which have been resurrected — which is happening more and more frequently — and which have reached their expiration date.

HBO has announced a third season of its trippy fantasy series, His Dark Materials. However, fans of this adaptation of author Phillip Pullman’s work should note that this will be the last chapter in the series. The story focuses on Dafne Keen’s Lyra, an extremely brave young woman who happens to be from another world. Other cast members for the second season include Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, Ariyon Bakare, Andrew Scott, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The show has a cumulative 80% Tomatometer for its first two seasons.

Buckle up, folks. Because HBO Max has cleared a second season of The Flight Attendant for takeoff. The psychological thriller stars Kaley Cuoco as Cassie Bowden, a globe-trotting flight attendant and party girl who gets an unwelcome surprise when she wakes up after a black-out night in a foreign country: The man she’d flirted with on the flight over (Michiel Huisman) is lying dead next to her. Now Cassie must solve the case before the feds — or the killer — find her. The first season is Certified Fresh with a 98% Tomatometer.

Brush off those lab coats. Peacock has renewed comedy A.P. Bio for a fourth season. The comedy, which aired on NBC for its first two seasons, stars Glenn Howerton as a former Harvard professor now relegated to teach high school biology (and make his students do his bidding). Other faculty members include Patton Oswalt as Principal Ralph Durbin and Paula Pell as his secretary, Helen Henry Demarcus. The first three seasons have a cumulative 88% Tomatometer.

Hulu has canceled the gritty horror/superhero series Marvel’s Helstrom after one season. The show, which has a 27% Tomatometer score, starred Tom Austen and Sydney Lemmon as Daimon and Ana Helstrom — the children of a serial killer who are also on the hunt for horrible people.

Locke and Key (Netflix)

Netflix has set February 7 for the premiere of Locke and Key, the Carlton Cuse–produced adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s IDW comic book series that has been in development for more than a decade. The mystery series revolves around the Locke family, three siblings and their mother who move into their ancestral home – Keyhouse – after the murder of their father. Keyhouse, as the Lockes quickly discover, is filled with magical keys that hold special powers. That draws out a demon who wants to steal the keys, which may have played a role in the murder of the Locke paterfamilias. The series stars Darby Stanchfield (Scandal), Jackson Robert Scott (IT), and Connor Jessup (American Crime).

The Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) returns with the launch of season 12 on Wednesday, January 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with friends Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Graham (Bradley Walsh). Subsequent episodes will air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT beginning January 5 on BBC America. The season kicks off with a two-part episode entitled “Spyfall.”

Last season on The Magicians, magic was saved, but at a terrible cost: Quentin Coldwater died heroically to save his friends — and the world. Julia (Stella Maeve), Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley), Eliot (Hale Appleman), Margo (Summer Bishil), Penny (Arjun Gupta), and their friends (and frenemies) must learn to navigate a world without him. In season 5, premiering January 15 at 10 p.m. ET/9C, a new threat has arisen: in freeing magic, the balance tipped the other way and there’s too damn much of it. As the excess builds, an apocalypse looms.

Cantankerous Larry David returns for season 10 of his HBO drama in January. Vince Vaughn joins the fun in a multi-episode arc.

Better Call Saul will return with a two-night premiere event on February 23 and 24, 2020. The fifth season will premiere on Sunday, February 23 at 10 p.m. ET/9C following a new episode of The Walking Dead. The season will continue the next night, Monday, February 24, with an encore presentation of the season premiere at 8 p.m. ET/7C followed by the season’s second episode at 9 p.m. ET/8C. Subsequent episodes will air Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET/8C. The new season will find Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill finally embracing his Saul Goodman persona to practice law, and the fallout that ensues for everyone around him, including fellow attorney and girlfriend Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), fixer Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), meth kingpin/restauranteur Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), and Jimmy’s criminal associate Nacho Varga (Michael Mando).

Find out when the rest of your favorite shows return and new shows premiere below.

Update (12/12): Pavarotti (Dec. 30), Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Jan. 24), Next in Fashion (Jan. 29), Briarpatch (Feb. 6), The Sinner (Feb. 6), Interrogation (Feb. 6), Wrong Man (Feb. 9), Hillary (Mar. 6), Ride with Norman Reedus (Mar. 8); Messiah (Jan. 1)

Sure, some shows “come to a natural end,” but someone somewhere said “enough,” and to avoid endless discussions about whether a title was “cancelled” or “retired” — “Daredevil was cancelled and Empire is cancelled, but Game of Thrones died peacefully of old age!” — we’re going with the one designation. Feel free to debate specific titles in the comments if you wish, but first, learn which series will live on, which have been resurrected — which is happening more and more frequently — and which have reached their expiration date.

Another renewal ahead of a debut: Apple TV+ has renewed M. Night Shyamalan’s Servant for a second season, Shyamalan revealed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Rupert Grint, and Nell Tiger Free star in the psychological thriller, which follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home. The series joins Apple Originals Dickinson, For All MankindSee, and The Morning Show, which received second-season orders.

Amazon has renewed The Lord of the Rings for season 2, while season 1 is still early in pre-production in New Zealand, Deadline reported. Season 1 will have a break in filming so that the writers room can reassemble to write season 2 scripts, which may allow simultaneous or back-to-back filming of seasons 1 and 2. The series is expected in 2021.

Marvel’s Runaways is the latest series developed under Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb to get the axe. Loeb is expected to announce his exit before the Thanksgiving holiday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. All 1o episodes of the young superhero series’ third season will drop on Hulu on December 13.

It’s official: The Mandalorian season 2 is underway. Earlier this year, series creator Jon Favreau revealed that he was working on season 2 scripts, but, as any film or TV writer can tell you, a script does not equal a green light. In a post on Instagram, Favreau sent “Greetings from the set of #TheMandalorian season 2,” which is enough proof for us.

Leave it to magical monster hunter Geralt of Rivia to find a way to return before he’s even arrived. Netflix has renewed fantasy series The Witcher for season 2 ahead of its premiere. Henry Cavill stars as the titular adventurer in the series that launches on December 20. The series, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher novels and short stories, also stars Freya Allan as Ciri and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Daredevil) is showrunner on the title, which will likely find an audience with gamers thanks to CD Projekt Red’s enormously popular and critically-acclaimed video game series based on the character.

Fall 2019 TV Survey: 40 Most Anticipated Returning Shows

For Rotten Tomatoes’ annual Fall TV Survey, we asked thousands of our users what they’re most looking forward to in the coming TV season and to reflect on the best shows from seasons past.

We first asked TV fans which returning fall TV shows they were most looking forward to, allowing them more than one vote to spread the love around.

American Horror Story took the top spot with 25% of the vote. No. 2, the second season of Mindhunter, which has already launched on Netflix, got 24.31% of the vote, besting The Good Place (23.7%) by a hair.

Read on to find out all of Rotten Tomatoes users’ most anticipated returning series.

Fans were disappointed when Netflix canceled The OA after its second season. Now, they will have to accept the season finale as the series finale as Variety reports that talks about a wrap-up movie have ended. Creators Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling envisioned five seasons, so they felt they could not wrap up the remaining three in two hours, according to Variety.

A VERY MERRY MR. ROBOT FINAL SEASON

USA released a first look at the final season of Mr. Robot, which will be set around the holidays. The festive decor provides an ominous contrast to the cryptic hacking and violence in store for the big finale. Also, the first teaser for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie shows Skinny Pete (Charles Baker) withstanding an interrogation, refusing to give up Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). Paul is sadly not featured in the trailer but will star in the movie, premiering October 11 on Netflix.

You can also check out the following new trailers:

– The trailer for American Horror Story: 1984 finally shows scenes from the season.

– A trailer for season 2 of Titans on DC Universe, featuring Bruce Wayne (Iain Glen) and Cameron Kent (Joshua Orpin) with his dog Krypto.

– Plus, this week saw teasers for Batwoman, the landmark 21st season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, season 2 of NBC’s drama Manifest, season 8 of Chicago Fire on NBC, and Dickinson.

– And trailers dropped for the new Fox drama Prodigal Son, Steven Soderbergh’s docu-series Leavenworth on Starz, and season 3 of Top Boy, produced by Drake and Briarpatch and starring Rosario Dawson.

Kurt Sutter is co-showrunner of his Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans M.C., but he told an audience at the season 2 premiere that he will leave if the show gets renewed.

“It’s time for the white man to leave the building,” Sutter said, according to Variety.

Though Sutter co-created the series, he feels it is time to leave the story of a Latino biker gang to co-creator/co-show runner Elgin James and the Hispanic staff.

It’s the most wonderful — and stressful! — time of year for TV fans: fall TV season, a.k.a. “try to keep track of all the new shows you want to see until you hopelessly fall behind and just watch Friends again” season.

We kid, but know that we feel you: It’s overwhelming! In less than two months, more than 50 shows and TV movies have debuted already. From NBC’s Lost-esque missing-plane drama Manifest to CBS’ latest classic reboot (Magnum P.I.) and philosophical afterlife comedies (The Good Place season 3 and Forever) to critically acclaimed animation for adults (BoJack Horseman and Big Mouth), there is abundant programming to choose from.

That’s why Rotten Tomatoes has created this list ranking every fall TV premiere for 2018 by Tomatometer (both new and returning shows, along with TV and streaming movies that did not get a big-screen release).

We’ll continue updating the scorecard for the rest of the year, registering every new season and TV or streaming movie (starting September 1) that got at least 10 critic reviews. (So if you’re wondering why your favorite isn’t on here, it likely just didn’t have enough season reviews to make it.)

Final Update (12/21): With Fall officially over, our Fall TV Scorecard is officially done. The final update saw the addition of the new Australian Netflix series Tidelands, Certified Fresh Amazon miniseries Vanity Fair, and the second season of Hulu’s Runaways.

Drumroll please: The top spot on the 2018 Rotten Tomatoes Fall TV Scorecard goes to The Good Place. For the second year in a row, the latest Certified Fresh season of NBC’s morality comedy landed in first place with a 100% score, beating out the seven other series or streaming movies with the same score (two of which were also Certified Fresh) thanks to the number of reviews it received.

Also of note: While Amazon’s Certified Fresh Homecoming has a 98% score, its Adjusted Tomatometer score, which takes into account the number of reviews that make up the final score, would push it ahead of The Good Place to take the No. 1 spot.

Adjusted Score: -1%
Critics Consensus: While the show's likable cast has potential, poor attempts at cultural commentary and weak characterizations leave The Neighborhood stuck in a creative dead end.

Critics Consensus: Despite its promising pedigree, I Feel Bad simply isn't very funny.

Heathers: Season 1 (2018)

#94
Adjusted Score: -1%
Critics Consensus: Despite promising performers, Heathers' aspirational angst is let down by its blunt, misguided attempts at social commentary.

#93
Adjusted Score: -1%
Critics Consensus: Overcrowded, overwrought, and overly familiar, New Amsterdam plays more like an exquisite corpse of pre-existing shows than a breakthrough for the genre -- though that may be enough for medical drama devotees.

Camping: Season 1 (2018)

Critics Consensus: The first season of Camping makes it difficult to determine who the least happy campers are: those on the screen or those watching it.

Critics Consensus: Bloated and boring, The Purge kills its own fleetingly fun premise and proves that not all stories work better on the small screen.

Critics Consensus: Despite a pair of likable leads, The Good Cop's reliance on procedural cliches sucks out much of the fun -- though those looking for an easy watch may find comfort in its familiarity.
