It’s one of the most acclaimed French films of the year — winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes, named Best Foreign Film by the US National Board of Review — and at last Jacques Audiard’s crime drama A Prophet is coming to movie screens around Australia.

The story of a young Arab man who gets sent to a French prison and goes on to become an underworld kingpin, the film has garnered incredible reviews from critics, with The Guardian praising it as “the work of the rarest kind of film-maker” and The Times gushing that “Jacques Audiard’s masterful prison saga will undoubtedly be considered to be one of the great films of 2010, if not the coming decade.”

To mark the occasion, Rotten Tomatoes and Sony Pictures are giving 20 lucky readers the chance to win a double pass to see the film.

To win, tell us in 25 words or less your favourite crime film, and why. Send your answers, along with your mailing address, to: A Prophet Giveaway.

Entries close Sunday, February 7. Winners will be notified by mail. Please note that the contest is open to Australian residents only.

A Prophet opens nationally on February 11.
