Severance has returned to Apple TV+ for a second season, and although the streamer has only released two episodes so far (with the third coming this Friday), critics and audiences are already talking about Ben Stiller’s thriller series, saying his direction is “note-perfect” as he draws impeccable performances from his leads and “creates beautiful imagery.” The show, which stars Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, Zach Cherry, John Turturro, and Britt Lower, centers on Mark (Scott) as he leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives.
RT correspondent Karama Horne recently sat down with Stiller and the cast to talk about how they were able to create their “innie and outie” personas and where Scott drew his inspiration to deliver those epic running scenes.
Karama Horne for Rotten Tomatoes: Adam, one thing I wanted to talk about is you running. You stay running. So, did you train to do 100 takes of running up and down all those hallways?
Adam Scott: I trained by watching Tom Cruz and what he does. Ben and I talked about Tom Cruz quite a bit when shooting that stuff because he is the very best at running in clothing that should not be run in, and I was in a suit the whole time.
Ben Stiller: That’s like Eugene Levy in Waiting for Guffman when he was asked, “Were you the class clown?” and he was like, “No, but I studied the class clown.”

Severance: Season 2 is available to stream on Apple TV+.
