The Rob Reiner-off has ended, and the Dread Pirate Roberts and Princess Buttercup have triumphed over friends-turned-lovers Harry and Sally, making The Princess Bride the ultimate winner of the Rom-Com Showdown! We here at RT knew that the film was popular, but the win was still somewhat surprising. En route to its seat at the top, The Princess Bride also laid waste to movies like Definitely, Maybe, The Wedding Singer, and Pretty Woman, so it didn’t exactly have an easy path to victory, but in the end, you just can’t defeat “wuv, twue wuv.”
Thanks as always to everyone who participated and cast their votes for their favorite rom-coms. Hopefully, if nothing else, we’ve helped provide some inspiration for Valentine’s Day viewing with your significant others. Or, you know, alone.
