Natalie Portman Aboard "Boleyn" and "Kavalier"

The universally-adored and very cute Natalie Portman seems to have a pretty high profile pair of freshly-inked contracts. On one hand, she’ll be starring in a historical drama with Eric Bana, and on the other, she’ll be appearing in the big-screen adaptation of a Pultizer Prize-winning novel … that’s about superheroes!

Project #1 comes from The Hollywood Reporter: "Natalie Portman and Eric Bana are in final negotiations to topline Columbia Pictures’ "The Other Boleyn Girl." Justin Chadwick has signed on to direct the historical drama, which is based on a novel by Philippa Gregory. The story revolves around the ferociously ambitious Boleyn sisters, Mary and Anne (Portman), who are rivals for the bed and heart of 16th century English King Henry VIII (Bana). Shooting is set to begin in late September in Europe."

And here’s #2, courtesy of our old pal JoBlo: "According to author Michael Chabon, Portman is a "strong likelihood" to star in the upcoming adaptation of his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay." Chabon writes that the next phase of pre-production (or "pre-pre-production" as he calls it) is expected to begin in July. Paramount, producer Scott Rudin, director Stephen Daldry ("The Hours") and Chabon are currently fine-tuning the script while animation studios conduct tests for the comic book portions of the film. Portman would play Rosa, the muse of the titular characters, Jewish cousins who bond in post-WWII New York as they create a superhero named The Escapist and help spawn the so-called Golden Age of comic books."

Talent, looks, AND good taste in new projects. No wonder everyone loves this girl.
