Paramount and MTV Films are planning to make a biopic about Napster creator Shawn Fanning, Variety reports. Fanning was a student at Northeastern University when he created the peer-to-peer file swapping software in 1999. He dropped out of college to form a company around the software, but his company filed for bankruptcy in 2002 due to numerous lawsuits by the music industry. Alex Winter is writing the script.
