Harry Potter Cast: Where Are They Now?
As all eight Harry Potter films return to theaters, catch up with the original young cast and see where their careers have taken them since leaving Hogwarts.
It’s true, then, what they’re saying on the train: Harry Potter is returning to theaters.
It’s been 25 years since we first saw Harry, Hermione, Ron, and the rest of our favorite young wizards and witches on the big screen in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. To celebrate this milestone, all eight Harry Potter movies will have a one-week theatrical run from August 27 to September 3, allowing fans to relive the magic all over again. Wicked.
Before fans head back to Hogwarts, we’re taking a deep dive into some of the young Harry Potter cast and what they’ve been up to because, well, they’re not kids anymore. From mockumentary-style sitcoms to film adaptations and award-nominated titles, we’ve seen several of the stars shine on screen long after they left the wizarding world and packed away their wands for good.
So, grab a butter beer and some Bertie Bott’s and check out the list below to see what your favorite students have been up to since the film saga concluded with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011.

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter)
Radcliffe has appeared in a wide range of projects, including The Woman in Black (2012), Kill Your Darlings (2013), What If (2013), Horns (2014), Victor Frankenstein (2015), Now You See Me 2 (2016), Swiss Army Man (2016), Imperium (2016), Jungle (2017), Beast of Burden (2018), Guns Akimbo (2019), Escape from Pretoria (2020), The Lost City (2022), Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022), and Playmobil: The Movie (2019), where he voiced Rex Dasher. On the TV side of things, he can be seen in A Young Doctor’s Notebook (2012–2013), The Gamechangers (2015), and Miracle Workers (2019–2023).
Back in 2023, Radcliffe appeared in and executive-directed David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, a documentary that centers on Holmes, a prodigious teenage gymnast from Essex, England, who was also Radcliffe’s stunt double since Sorcerer’s Stone. The film follows the close friendship between Holmes and Radcliffe after he was left paralyzed during a tragic accident on set while rehearsing a stunt for Deathly Hallows – Part 1. Critic Vicky Jessop wrote, “Holmes is unbowed — and to see him and Radcliffe ambling through the Potter archives together, reminiscing about the good times, is both triumphant and heartbreaking.”
Radcliffe currently stars in the popular mockumentary sitcom The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, where he plays filmmaker Arthur Tobin, who’s on a mission to make a documentary about disgraced former football star Reggie Dinkins (Tracy Morgan). Season 1 is Certified Fresh, and critics are praising the “unexpected chemistry between Radcliffe and Morgan.” Season 2 is set to air in November.
Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley)
Grint has been bloody busy since Harry Potter. Fans can spot him in Into the White (2012), Charlie Countryman (2013), CBGB (2013), Moonwalkers (2015), Tracey Ullman’s Show (2016), Snatch (2017–2018), Sick Note (2017–2018), Urban Myths (2017), Servant (2019–2023), and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities (2022). He’s also done several voice roles. You can hear him in American Dad! (Season 8, Episode 2), Postman Pat: The Movie (2014), and Underdogs (2014).
Grint recently starred in the psychological horror film Nightborn, which premiered at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival and won the Cheval Noir Trophy for Best Film at the Fantasia International Film Festival. This marks the first big project since he appeared in the popular horror film Knock at the Cabin. The movie is now available to stream on AMC+.
Grint has another high-profile film on the way: Ebenezer, where he’ll play Bob Cratchit alongside Johnny Depp and Ian McKellen. The movie is currently in production and set to release this November.
Emma Watson (Hermione Granger)
Swish and flick! Audiences immediately fell in love with Watson when she stepped into the role of fierce and brilliant Hermione Granger. So, it’s no wonder that fans were thrilled to see her play Belle in the live-action Beauty and the Beast (2017), where audiences said that she was perfect for the role. Watson would go on to star in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women (2019) alongside Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh. Gerwig’s adaptation of the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott was widely praised, earning both Certified Fresh and Verified Hot badges.
You can also see Watson in a handful of other films, including My Week with Marilyn (2011), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), The Bling Ring (2013), This Is the End (2013), Noah (2014), Regression (2015), Colonia (2015), and The Circle (2017).
Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley)
Fans might argue that Dudley was one of the films’ biggest antagonists when we were first introduced to Harry Potter back in 2001, and arguably, Melling has had one of the most acclaimed post-Harry Potter careers. We first knew him as Harry’s spoiled cousin who didn’t offer much except his old, tattered clothes (though Dudley did let Harry take his second bedroom in The Chamber of Secrets).
But today, fans know him for a slew of acclaimed films, including Pillion (2026), where he acted alongside Alexander Skarsgård, The Pale Blue Eye (2022), where he played a young Edgar Allan Poe next to Christian Bale, and Joel Coen’s Oscar-nominated The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021), starring Denzel Washington. Other notable projects include the psychological thriller The Devil All the Time (2020), featuring Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson, The Old Guard (2020) with Charlize Theron, and Emmy-winning The Queen’s Gambit (2020).
Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy)
Felton made a name for himself as the antagonist of the Harry Potter franchise the moment he made his first appearance outside the dining hall in Sorcerer’s Stone. Since then, he’s starred in a wide range of projects ranging from comedies and thrillers to historical dramas and sci-fi films. Felton recently starred in the 2026 horror/action movie They Will Kill You and the 2025 Certified Fresh comedy Fackham Hall.
Last year, Felton reprised his role as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. In an interview with Broadway in Boston, he noted that returning to the role was a “full-circle moment” because he was the same age as Draco Malfoy is in The Cursed Child.
Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom)
Matthew Lewis was mostly known for his role as the timid, sometimes clumsy but brave Neville Longbottom. Since then, he’s built a solid career in film and TV. He can be seen in the 2016 rom-com Me Before You, with Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin, and the Certified Fresh comedy Baby Done (2020), where Lewis stars alongside Rose Matafeo. Their performance was highly praised by critics for “keeping the audience invested and the story relatable.” Fans can look out for Lewis in the upcoming mini-series The Family Secret.
Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas)
Enoch, who plays the artistic and level-headed Dean Thomas, has had one of the strongest TV careers among the Harry Potter supporting cast. Fans might know him as Wes Gibbins in How to Get Away with Murder or Raych Sledon in Foundation. In addition to his screen work, he has built an impressive career in theater, appearing in productions like King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, Coriolanus, Timon of Athens, and more.
Freddie Stroma (Cormac McLaggen)
Freddie Stroma has also had one of the busiest post-Harry Potter careers since we all saw him dominate the role of arrogant Cormac McLaggen in Half-Blood Prince. He’s appeared in well-known movies like A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song (2011), Pitch Perfect (2012), Extraterrestrial (2014), The Inbetweeners 2 (2014), 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), and Second Act (2018); and hit TV series like Game of Thrones (2016), Time After Time (2017), Grand Hotel (2019), Bridgerton (2020), The Crew (2021), Peacemaker (2022–2025), and The Rookie (2026).
Josh Herdman (Gregory Goyle)
Known as Goyle, a loyal best friend of the notorious Draco Malfoy, Herdman has been seen in several movies, including Piggy (2012), Common People (2013), Sink (2016), Robin Hood (2018), where he starred alongside Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx, Two Graves (2018), and No Way Home (2023). On the TV side of things, you can find him in Wizards vs Aliens (2012), Marcella (2018), White House Farm (2020), The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022), and Andor (2022).
Katie Leung (Cho Chang)
Leung has built a steady career in television, film, and voice acting since playing the sweet and athletic Cho Chang. She’s appeared in several TV series, including Run (2013), Father Brown (2013), One Child (2014), The Nest (2020), Roadkill (2020), The Peripheral (2022), The Chemistry of Death (2023), and Nightsleeper (2024), and more recently, several high-profile streaming series, including Bridgerton and Arcane. Leung made her highly anticipated Bridgerton debut earlier this year as Sophie’s formidable and calculating stepmother Araminta Gun in Season 4. The season is Certified Fresh and highly praised by critics.
Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood)
Evanna Lynch is Luna. When Lynch took on the role of eccentric and unapologetic Luna Lovegood, most everyone agreed she was perfect for it. Since Harry Potter, she’s been seen in a mix of films and TV, including G.B.F. (2013), Addiction: A 60’s Love Story (2015), Madness in the Method (2019), and Sinbad (2012). She also had voice roles in Middle School Moguls (2019), Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2020), and My Freaky Family (2024). You can find her starring in My Name is Emily (2015), a movie that critics called a whimsical road trip film [with] a compelling backstory. “Evanna Lynch shines.”
In 2018, she competed in Season 27 of Dancing with the Stars, where she finished in third place.
Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley)
It almost feels like we saw Wright grow up right before our eyes as she brought the role of resilient and independent Ginny Weasley to life. Since Chamber of Secrets, Ginny has been a staple character in the franchise, with some superfans writing that they wish they saw more of the character on screen. Before shifting her focus to directing, writing, and environmental advocacy, Wright appeared in a handful of independent films, including The Philosophers (2013), The Sea (2013), and A Christmas Carol (2018).
