GTA, Halo Movies May Go a Different Route

The incredibly lucrative "Halo" and "Grand Theft Auto" video game franchises have rebuffed many attempts for cinematic treatment from Hollywood producers. The reason, says Variety, is that the games are such hot property that the game makers (Microsoft makes "Halo," Rockstar makes "GTA") may be working on scripts of their own. Given the number of video game to movie transfers that have failed, the move reflects concern from the game makers that the brands, which combined for $200 million in sales, would be harmed by substandard movies.
