Countdown: Best Sequels 2012

by | August 16, 2012 | Comments

Let’s be honest: sequels have gotten a bad rap. For every attempt to wring more cash out of an established, brand-name movie, there’s another that deepens and expands upon the cinematic world that preceded it. With that in mind, we at Rotten Tomatoes have compiled our Best Sequels list, a comprehensive countdown of the best-reviewed follow-ups and continuations in movie history!

Before digging in, let us establish some ground rules. We’ve used a weighted formula that takes the Tomatometer, the number of reviews, and the year of release into account. In addition, a film needs at least 20 reviews to qualify. We’ve also excluded spinoffs and prequels. Anyway, check out our list, which contains enough classics that you’ll learn to stop worrying and love the sequel.
