Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Joins Spider-Man: Brand New Day
The new film is slated for release on November 26, 2026.
It has been three and a half years since Spider-Man: No Way Home swung into theaters, but Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker is set to return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, due out in 2026. And this time, he’ll be joined by a fan-favorite vigilante. Jon Bernthal will officially reprise his role as the Punisher in the highly anticipated Marvel and Sony collaboration.
Bernthal became a fan-favorite as Frank Castle when he debuted as the Punisher in Netflix’s Daredevil in 2016, later leading his own spin-off series for two seasons. He recently stepped back into the character’s boots in Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, and is also set to star in an upcoming Punisher special on the platform directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green.
Brand New Day will mark Bernthal’s first big-screen appearance as Castle alongside Holland’s Peter Parker. The fourth installment in Holland’s Spider-Man saga follows the overwhelming box office success of Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021).
Brand New Day will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for spearheading Shan-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021). Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to return as MJ and Ned, while Stranger Things star Sadie Sink joins the cast in a new role.
Most of the plot of Brand New Day is under wraps, but rumors continue to swirl surrounding what is to come in the film. We do know that the plot will pick up after No Way Home, where the entire world forgets Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man, leaving him to rebuild his life from scratch.
With the inclusion of Bernthal’s Punisher, fans can expect plenty of action and high-stakes battles.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day begins production this summer in England and is set to hit the big screens on July 31, 2026.
