Wahlberg back for SAW 3

Yesterday it was reported that Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith would be back for Saw 3, but today comes a real shocker: Donnie Wahlberg will be back to reprise his part in the new film.

(Potential spoilers lie below, so tread lightly if you still haven’t seen Saw 2.)

This last bit of news is a minor shock, as anyone who watched last year’s Saw sequel knows that the good detective played by Wahlberg was left chained, screaming, and alone in the infamous filthy bathroom. It was looking like his ticket was punched.

While it is not known if Wahlberg’s character appears in flashback format or as a lead, the inside word is that Wahlberg may indeed have escaped his fate with Jigsaw and is facing off against him in a new and even more diabolical plot.

Joining the three cast members for a third Saw-go-round will be Saw 2 director Darren Lynn Bousman. Keep an eye out for Saw 3 this October.
