Nintendo, the Japan-based game company behind the GameCube, is getting into the animated film business, according to Variety. Nintendo will create movies based on its game properties, with the earliest one coming to theaters in 2006. Factors include the trend of Video games and movies converging, and the fact that "a lack of creative control over licensed pics could harm [the game companies’] properties and that they won’t profit significantly from hit movies based on their games," according to the report. If you think there are too many movies based on video games already, wait until other game companies get into the act.
