The Last Airbender

I finished the first season of the TV show over the weekend and everybody
out there needs to get on this if they haven’t already. Seriously, it’s like
Siddhartha meets Princess Mononoke. Some of the show’s heavier themes are
easier digested thanks to the comedy, so it’s a little disconcerting seeing
how serious this adaptation looks. Maybe there’s some lightness tucked in
between all the crazy scenes shown in the trailer, but, then again, M. Night
Shyamalan never did seem able to make and take a joke did he? Browse the gallery.

Wow, what happened here? What once started as a
so-crazy-it-just-might-work team-up of Seth Rogen, Stephen Chow, and a
random property only weirdos cared about has apparently just become a
bizarre yet generic superhero romp. It’s like Michel Gondry zombified into
Stephen Somers.
