  • NEWS, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 4: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 will shoot in April and May of 2010, aiming for a 2011 release date. The next installments are to be shot one at a time. Disney’s Oren Aviv states it will “hopefully be the first of another trilogy.” (8:01 pm)
  • QUOTES, ASTEROIDS: Producer Lornezo di Bonaventura talks to IGN about the Atari adaptation: “We’ve crafted a really strong, deep mythology for the thing. Without divulging too much about it, it’s two lead characters – two brothers – who have to go through a seminal experience to figure out their relationship, against this huge backdrop.” (7:55 pm)
  • NEWS, AVATAR: Ready for Avatar Day? After showing 25 minutes of 3D footage at the panel, James Cameron announced that on August 21 (aka Avatar Day), 15 minutes of Avatar will be shown for free in IMAX 3D theaters all over the world! (7:26 pm)
  • NEWS, DARK SHADOWS: Tim Burton’s next movie? Dark Shadows, an adaptation of Gothic soap opera that featured werewolves, vampires, zombies, and time travel. It ran for 1,225 episodes in the late ’60s/early ’70s. (7:15 pm)
  • PICS, TRON LEGACY: RT has got the sleek title treatment for TRON Legacy. Meanwhile, the sneaks over at Cinema Blend have put up vehicle and environment concept art. (6:55 pm)
  • CLIPS, TWILIGHT: Jen’s full impressions of the premiered New Moon scenes are up. Read them! (6:51 pm)
  • QUOTES, TWILIGHT: At the Twilight panel, director Chris Weitz says his last film (The Golden Compass) was a “terrible” experience, and had no final cut. He speaks highly, however, of Summit and New Moon. (6:02 pm)
  • CLIP, TWILIGHT: Jen’s at the Twilight panel and just saw a brand-new clip. Her description: “Jacob teaches Bella how to ride her new motorcycle. She sees an apparition of Edward trying to stop her. She rides off, past two apparitions of Edward. She falls off, hits her head on a rock. Jacob (in his long hair) rides over to her, hops off, tends to her head wound — by taking off his shirt to tenderly stop the bleeding. Dialogue straight from the book.” (5:16 pm)
  • NEWS, ASTRO BOY: Summit panel playing Astro Boy trailer. Read a description here. Also, Samuel L. Jackson and Charlize Theron has joined the voice cast. (5:01 pm)
  • PANELS, DISNEY: Johnny Depp showed up for Alice in Wonderland. Girls rushed the stage. Go to twitter.com/importantdate for info about what Disney can only cryptically describe as a “tea party.” Those at the convention, take your Flynn’s Arcade coin token you got upon entering Hall H to 1st and J. Disney is planning something. (3:55 pm)
  • QUOTE, ROGER RABBIT SEQUEL: Robert Zemeckis on a Roger Rabbit sequel: “I can neither confirm or deny. I will tell you this: If that ever does happen…the 2D characters will remain 2D. They will not be dimensionalized. Though (a sequel) would not exclude 3D.”
    (3:27 pm)
  • NEWS, TRON: TRON sequel FINALLY gets a name: TRON Legacy.
    (3:20 pm)
  • CLIP, EXTRACT: Watch an exclusive clip from Mike Judge’s Extract here. Ben Affleck kills! Judge, Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, and Kristen Wiig will be at the Con on Saturday.

    revealed. (1:56 pm)
  • NEWS, CASTLEVANIA: James Wan (Saw, Death Sentence)
    is writing/directing
    Castlevania
. Paul W.S. Anderson producing. Even if Death Sentence wasn’t great overall, most of the action was wonderfully tense (remember the parking garage tracking shot?). I’d be interested in seeing what he does with a decent budget. This news, however, is probably getting overshadowed by the Sam Raimi/World of Warcraft announcement. (1:56 pm)
  • VIDEO, TWILIGHT:

    Interviewing the girls
who have been waiting over 24 hours for the
    Twilight
    panel. (1:56 pm)
  • VIDEO, THE GREEN HORNET:

    Michel Gondry freestyles
about Black Beauty, the just-unveilled car from
    The Green Hornet

  • TRAILER, NINJA ASSASSIN: Ninja Assassin trailer
revealed. This movie is being given a plum November release date and interest was very high whenever we promoted photos for it on RT. This could be a big one. (1:56 pm)
