The 2006 Academy Awards broadcast will be held March 6, in order to avoid clashing with the Winter Olympics, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Frank Pierson said the Oscars, which have usually been distributed in late February, will return to their normal date in 2007. The Games’ closing ceremonies are scheduled to be held on Feb. 26, the general date the Oscars are traditionally held. The Oscars will be broadcast on ABC from 2005 to 2007.
