WATCH: Ghostbusters First Official Trailer

by | March 3, 2016 | Comments

Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return July 15, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they’re here to save the world! Watch the first trailer:

  • great, now i have the ghostbusters theme stuck in my head 😛

  • Iceman1956

Looks absolutely AWFUL. Reminds me of how I felt after watching the trailer for Pixels and Gods of Egypt. They need to put the Ghostbusters to rest. 🙁

  • RJCasale

I’m a HUGE fan of the originals…I personally didn’t like the idea of a sequel or reboot. I will give it a chance before I condemn it.

    • adam

A sensible comment on the internet? What’s that doing here?

      • RJCasale

Thanks to Dreamcatcher I’ve learned never to base expectations solely on a trailer.

  • Jizzy Gillespie

This movie looks like a bomb!

  • Idahoballer

    New Hollyweid ruins another classic.

  • James Vincent

32 years ago 3 of the 4 original Ghostbusters were Scientists. And they were funny. This trailer has no funny moments. It looks like a flop.

  • Lord Slothrop

While I admit the trailer is rather weak, I still have hope that the film will be good. Feig has done some great work in the past and I do like the cast. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Daniel Allen Longworth

You know, obviously the deck is stacked against this thing being more than mildly successful… BUT, I do appreciate the work of the principal cast members, so I was hoping for something redeeming from them. What did we get instead? Cliche’. The black Ghostbuster says “AWW, HELL NO!” Hilarious! Someone says “That’s gonna leave a mark!” after being punched? How hip and edgy! Never heard that one before! Jesus… I realize they gotta sell fast food tie-ins to this crap, but couldn’t they at least let these actresses infuse the roles with something of their own originality? Not yet impressed…

    • Yeah the improv’d, understated comedy of the original has been replaced by clichés… at least in the trailer. Hopefully the actual movie is better.

  • massive2341

I would be furious at this if I hadn’t already known that they were doing a Jumanji remake. And a Blade Runner remake.

  • Daniel Gump

It’s like a kindergartner trying to paint the Mona Lisa: The remake can’t match the original masterpiece.

  • G.I.Jew

Looks like another stupid episode of SNL, only longer, more dumber and making fun of my favorite childhood movie. Ghostbusters without Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore are not Ghostbusters!

  • Guy Dudebreaux

Paul Feig usually does good work. I guess even he can crap out a turd once in a while. Can’t wait to see the RT score on this film. My bet is 22%.

  • Rob Lines

    NO NO NO!
3 Ghostbusting Fatty’s does NOT even remotely come close to the Original!
Looks disgraceful and a complete flop!
    Poor Humour from the trailer.
Will not be watching this. I’d rather watch my dog curling one out..

  • Saul Till

Trailer is utterly mediocre and lacking in any personality. I like Feig, and I thought Spy was the funniest film of last year but a new Ghostbusters has to be more than just funny – it has to be iconic. I’ll keep my mind open but I don’t have high hopes.

  • Mark JeongJoo Cheon

Not that bad…actually we had too much expectation for this old film- it is a whole brand new
Sure born after middle of 80s to 90s have no info about busters Hope Melisa can do some magic like SPY!!

  • comslave

I didn’t laugh. For that to happen to a comedy trailer means it will be death at the box office.

  • Bob F

This WAS NOT funny. I don’t really care who stars in it, there was just not one funny thing in the whole trailer.

  • MilkHeadAsh

This looks fun. I doubt they are putting the best stuff in the trailer, but part of the Ghostbusters charm is that NYC attitude and feel, and it does look like they’ve captured some of that. How bout we see it before we hate it?

  • AmbushKilla

Flop city. Lazy action/comedy with 30 year-old cliches, jokes, and stereotypes. Predicting 30% on the Tomatometer at BEST…

    • adam

It looks to have more cliches than the original, which came out 30 years ago…

  • Terry

It’ll probably be better than GBII, also check the original GB1 trailer before passing judgement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vntAEVjPBzQ

  • Lorenzo Castellani

    oh my why?

  • Felipe Aguena

This looks and sounds like an Adam Sandler movie man, Jesus Christ so lame. I’m not a fan of the original franchise to begin with (too young), and this, this just really doesn’t change anything for me at all. All I can do is pray this trailer is very misleading

  • Andy

I dunno. I rewatched the original lately – and didn’t laugh at all.

  • Cobra88EH

Seems like an overblown SNL skit mocking Ghostbusters rather than an original take on the franchise.

  • adam

As an 80s kid, I was a huge fan of the original. It bothers me to see how many people (men) were so outraged by the idea of a female cast. I think it’s good to have a story with strong female characters who have agency. That being said, I was disappointed to hear it was a reboot rather than a continuation of the story in the same universe.

Now that I saw the trailer, I can definitely say it’s underwhelming. Still, I won’t judge the movie till I’ve seen it. Good or bad, it’s not going to ruin my movie experience with the original. I’ve heard so many people gripe about how these recent Hollywood reboots somehow ruin their childhood experiences with the original source material. Good or bad, these new Transformers/TMTNT/Ghostbusters movies don’t take away from the experience you had on viewing the originals. They stand alone and you’ll always have the originals to go back to.

  • distachio

I love this cast, but it doesn’t look good at all. The only time I laughed was when Melissa McCarthy got slapped.

  • Shane Lewis

The problem in these reboot movies are so over produced in every godforsaken area from the over the top acting the sexualization of the female roles to the totally Awesome teen ” brostep ” electronic noises, the old movies will always have character and charm and will never be recaptured
so expect more reboot fails this one’s a big stinker.

    • Dallas Schneider

You think they’re over the top sexualised in this film? Either you’re a mennonite or you’re really into some deep fetishes…

  • Acerbat

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” . I hope they don’t do a reboot of Back to the future next.

    • TanukiTrooper

Zemeckis is preventing anyone from rebooting Back to the Future, he really doesn’t want to see it happen. So as long as he is alive, we will be safe. Even then, Zemeckis said that he is looking at a way to stop any remakes through his estate upon his death. So who knows, there may never be a BttF reboot.

  • Thomas Anderson

Who you gonna call? Not these Ghostbusters 🙁

  • Dallas Schneider

Unaccompanied Minors, then Bridesmaids, then The Heat, then Spy, and now THIS?! Wow. Paul Feig is really making a run at the Worst Director of All Time title.
