Haggis turns to Ian Fleming for inspiration

Okay, you didn’t really think screenwriter Paul Haggis was going to tell us the plot of the new James Bond movie and where it would take place. But we didn’t lie. He did discuss them in broad concepts.

“I just started,” said Haggis. “I just started a couple weeks ago so I’m still plotting, just throwing cards on the wall to figure out what the plot is. It’s hard. We’re literally throwing plot cards on walls.”

Perhaps the difficulty is that this Bond is not going to be based on a book like Casino Royale. However, that does not mean that Ian Fleming has had no influence. “I was reading a couple of them to try to find inspiration and I’ve taken a locale from one of them so I won’t tell you which, but it’s tough. It’s really tough. Casino Royale, we had a really good book to work with.”
