Netflix has set February 7 for the premiere of Locke and Key, the Carlton Cuse–produced adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s IDW comic book series that has been in development for more than a decade. The mystery series revolves around the Locke family, three siblings and their mother who move into their ancestral home – Keyhouse – after the murder of their father. Keyhouse, as the Lockes quickly discover, is filled with magical keys that hold special powers. That draws out a demon who wants to steal the keys, which may have played a role in the murder of the Locke paterfamilias. The series stars Darby Stanchfield (Scandal), Jackson Robert Scott (IT), and Connor Jessup (American Crime).

She’s back! Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning comedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is returning to Amazon for its second season on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Season 2 will see Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) dealing with the fallout from her takedown of Sophie Lennon, making her climb up the comedy ladder even more challenging — especially since she’s still keeping her new career as a standup comedian a secret from her family.

No relationship is perfect. But for viewers tuning in for just 30 minutes to an hour, they can seem like they are.
Some comedies, like Amazon’s Catastrophe, Fox’s New Girl, and Hulu’s recently ended The Mindy Project, prove that the perils of dating, marriage, and parenting are far from the bill of Norman Rockwell–hued goods many of us were sold as children. The humor in those series, however, is something that critics clearly appreciate: Catastrophe is Certified Fresh at 100% for each of its three seasons; New Girl’s review count has dipped as its seasons have gone on, but dedicated critics have kept its score high; and Mindy has an 87% Fresh Tomatometer score.
Meanwhile, shows like NBC’s This Is Us, ABC’s black-ish, and former NBC series Friday Night Lights remind us that some couples do get relationships with marks almost as high as their Tomatometer scores if they’re willing to put in the work. Even teen dramas, like former Fox series The O.C. and Glee, are known for their devotion to the intricacies of relationships. And then there’s Homer and Marge Simpson, who have been going strong for decades and seem to have not aged a day.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’ve gathered a list of TV shows that offered the best portrayals of coupledom in all its funny, messy, emotional, complicated glory.
The series are arranged first by Tomatometer score, then alphabetically where the show does not currently have a series score.
Which is your favorite TV couple and why? Tell us in the comments!
The people have spoken, and the results are in. Check out the list below for the winners of the People’s Choice Awards 2017, celebrated last night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Ellen DeGeneres made history at the show by becoming the most decorated People’s Choice Awards winner of all time.

This week on home video, we’ve got Seth Rogen and Zac Efron facing off in a comedy, Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson facing off in a post-apocalyptic road film, and Brenton Thwaites and Laurence Fishburne facing off in a sci-fi thriller. Then we’ve got the requisite smaller releases, a ton of recent TV seasons (and one complete collection of a popular sitcom), and three big horror franchise sets. Read on for details:
With hit projects both as director (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek) and writer (the two recent Muppets movies) under his belt, it might be surprising to learn that Nicholas Stoller’s most successful film to date was Neighbors, a raunchy comedy that opened one week after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and one week before Godzilla. Pitting Seth Rogen against Zac Efron, Neighbors follows a young couple with a newborn baby who find themselves at odds with their new neighbors when a fraternity moves in next door. Most critics found the comedy surprisingly sturdy, if a bit vulgar, and praised its game cast, which included supporting turns from Rose Byrne, Dave Franco, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Special features on the disc include the requisite gag reel and deleted scenes, alongside a handful of making-of featurettes.
Australian director David Michod’s 2010 film Animal Kingdom was a powerhouse debut, so it wasn’t unreasonable to set expectations high for his follow-up, The Rover, which opened in limited release back in June. While the latter wasn’t quite the critical darling its predecessor was, it still managed to impress critics to the tune of 66 percent on the Tomatometer. Utilizing the Australian landscape as a post-apocalyptic backdrop, The Rover stars Guy Pearce as Eric, a lone drifter who gets carjacked by a gang of combative thieves. In search of leads, Eric runs into Rey (Robert Pattinson), the brother of one of the thieves, and the pair set out across the desolate landscape to locate Eric’s car, encountering trouble along the way. Moody and violent, The Rover struck most critics as a stylish exercise in ambiguity, with a relatively thin story held aloft almost entirely by its stars’ compelling performances. Only one bonus feature comes with the disc, and it’s a 45-minute making-of doc.
Films that rely on sustained tension in service of a big final payoff are difficult to craft; sometimes, they’re more confusing than they need to be, and sometimes the anticipated twist is underwhelming. Unfortunately, there were enough critics who found both to be true for The Signal that the film mustered only a mediocre 55 percent on the Tomatometer. The story revolves around a trio of MIT students (Brenton Thwaites, Olivia Cooke, Beau Knapp) driving across the Southwest whose road trip takes a detour when they begin to receive taunting messages from an MIT hacker. Before they are able to confront their nemesis, however, they black out and find themselves trapped in a mysterious research facility, unable to explain what happened. Critics found The Signal ambitious and initially intriguing, but felt it could have used a lot more narrative finesse to deliver its climactic reveals. The film comes with a feature commentary with the director and writers, some deleted, extended, and alternate scenes, and a behind-the-scenes doc.
The stage at the Beverly Hills Paley Center for Media still stands today, even after holding up the comedic weight from Wednesday’s night tribute to the late Sid Caesar.
Billy Crystal, Carl Reiner, and Mel Brooks told stories about their close friend and TV icon for over 90 minutes at the Paley Center’s salute to Sid Caesar, who passed away in February. Eddy Friedfeld, the co-author of the autobiography Caesar’s Hours: My Life in Comedy, With Love and Laughter, moderated a program that was funny, touching, and illuminating.
Twelve-time Emmy winner Carl Reiner (The Dick Van Dyke Show) worked on Caesar’s Your Show of Shows, alongside Mel Brooks and Neil Simon from 1950 to 1954. He also wrote on Caesar’s Hour, which aired from 1954 to 1957.
“My favorite memory of Sid is being on stage with him and hearing roars of laughter over things that weren’t planned,” Reiner told Rotten Tomatoes during the program’s red carpet. “If he heard a laugh, he could milk it more than any other comedian I’ve ever seen. If he knew the audience was enjoying it particularly, he says, ‘You let them enjoy it a little longer.’ I learned something from that: go with the audience. If they like it, give them more of the same.”
Mel Brooks (Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles) whose tenure with Caesar’s Your Show of Shows launched an illustrious movie career, wishes Sid Caesar had followed his lead onto the big screen.
“The trouble with Your Show of Shows and Sid Caesar and the reason it’s not living on is because it was captured on inferior material, like cellophane and kinescopes, but had Sid Caesar made movies, he’d still be a giant in comedy today,” Brooks told Rotten Tomatoes. “People would know because movies last. We go to see Charlie Chaplin movies, and we go to see Buster Keaton movies. There are no Sid Caesar movies, and that’s terrible. But his comedy was eternal and it’s a pity that it wasn’t captured on materials that would let it live.”
Reiner, who was first cast in Your Show of Shows in 1950 by producer Max Leibman, said the secret to enduring comedy is truth. “If a comedian is telling the truth — telling the truth means talking about what he really, really, feels deeply — you can’t fail. It’s when you’re trying to be something you’re not. The audience knows it in a second. But all the great comedians now, from Richard Pryor down to Louie CK, they talk about what they know about and they talk about the real.”
The realness of comedy also extends to political satire in Reiner’s opinion. “The political comedians like Jon Stewart and John Oliver — he’s incredible — and Colbert are just wonderful. Those are worthwhile comedians. They’re funny. Colbert may be the most original of all because he’s doing a right-wing gentleman and he’s not right-winged. He’s doing a satire and he’s making himself look like a fool, but doing it so honestly. He’s playing an honest fool.”
For Mel Brooks, finding current-day comedy on television that he enjoys is a bit more difficult.
“There are a lot of shows that I like, but, honestly, there’s not a lot of comedy that I’m crazy about,” Brooks said. “I like The Good Wife; I’d like to meet her. Breaking Bad was incredible. Justified with Timothy Olyphant is a wonderful show. I like mostly hour drama. It seems to be superior in intelligence and in writing ability than half-hour sitcoms that just don’t thrill me. I like Modern Family; it’s funny — especially when my old friend Nathan Lane is a guest star. It’s adorable. Otherwise, I like Chinese food. Peking duck.”

Avery Corman’s novel "A Perfect Divorce" is set to hit the big screen, says Variety. The story "chronicles the aftermath of a Manhattan couple’s divorce and how, despite their best efforts, their teenage son gets hit with the emotional shrapnel." Screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin ("Jacob’s Ladder," "Ghost") is on adaptation duty for producer Irwin Winkler ("Life as a House," "The Net"). Mr. Corman also wrote the books "Kramer Vs. Kramer" and "Oh, God!," both of which were adapted into rather successful films.
