Founded in 2010, Noirvember is a month-long celebration of film noir on the internet (if you search through the hashtag on most social media sites, you can see what your fellow film noir fanatics are watching). Whether you consider film noir an era or a genre is up to you, but films designated as such generally share common elements such as low-key high-contrast lighting, gumshoe detectives, femme fatales, anti-heroes, and a generally down-trodden mood. This gallery highlights some of the greatest posters for films from the Old Hollywood film noir era (roughly 1941 – 1959). There’s dames, there’s fedoras, there’s guns, and there’s some truly exceptional posters. So pull up a chair, pour yourself some bourbon, and enjoy.
