"X-Files" Sequel Rushed Before 2008 Strike

David Duchovny can’t do an interview without getting asked about "The X-Files." Partly it’s his own fault for always insisting that there will be a second "X-Files" movie. Now that he’s saying a sequel is looking imminent, he revealed the details.

"I think they are talking about an ‘X-Files’ movie this week," specified Duchovny. "I’m not just saying that. I know Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz are in there this week with Fox talking about it."

The impetus appears to be a possible strike looming for 2008, setting a deadline for productions. "I guess there are things to figure out. They’re trying to get it done before things. Producers are saying they want to get things done. Yeah, I think it could happen. I hope that it doesn’t. It’s always hard for anybody to win when that happens because people aren’t working so I hope that there can be a resolution."

In the "X-Files" world, Duchovny is game to revisit Mulder and he things Gillian Anderson would be too. "Absolutely, it would be fun. She’ll do it. We’ll all do it. We’re all gung ho and we’re just waiting."
