Warner Bros. has announced plans to mount a remake of MGM’s 1981 cult favorite "Clash of the Titans," and they’ve hired newcomer screenwriter Travis Beachem (the upcoming "Killing On Carnival Row") to pen the screenplay.

According to Variety, "Beacham said he is writing a new script, and that he intends the redo to be darker and more realistic than MGM’s "Clash." Storyline will still revolve around Perseus’ journey to save the Princess Andromeda, during which he must complete various tasks set out by Zeus, including capturing Pegasus and slaying Medusa."

"I’ll keep the big mythological feel. That’s what I totally loved about it when I saw it as a kid," Beacham said.
