The Rock, a Rapper, and a Director Join the "Gridiron Gang"

Variety brings news of "Gridiron Gang," a new sports flick that "concerns a dedicated probation officer … who puts together a football team of juvenile-detention inmates to compete against local high school teams." The Rock ("Walking Tall," "The Rundown") is already on board to play the probation officer, rapper Xzibit is close to landing a role, and Sony just signed Phil Joanou ("State of Grace," "Three O’Clock High") to direct.The screenplay, which is based on actual events, was written by Jeff Maguire ("In the Line of Fire"). Production gets underway next month.
