The lawsuit filed by Nicolas Cage over strange allegations made by Kathleen Turner in her recent memoir has reached its conclusion.

Cage was pursuing claims of defamation, libel, and slander against Turner, The Daily Mail, and Headline Publishing Group, the British publisher of Turner’s book, Send Yourself Roses: My Life, Love and Leading Roles. At issue were a number of passages concerning Turner’s experiences working with Cage on 1986’s Peggy Sue Got Married, including claims that Cage was a dog thief who picked up two DUIs while filming.

According to E! Online, on Friday, Cage’s attorney appeared in London’s High Court “to announce that both publishing groups had acknowledged Turner’s claims to be untrue.” The Daily Mail, which had excerpted the contested passages from Turner’s book under the headline “Why I Detest Burt Reynolds and Nicolas Cage,” has agreed to publish an apology and remove the offending article from its website; Headline Publishing will insert a correction and apology in subsequent editions of Turner’s book.

Turner will also cover Cage’s legal fees and make “a substantial donation to the National Adult Protective Services Foundation, a U.S.-based charity that benefits vulnerable adults.”
