Lions Gate Buys the Niles Library

Lions Gate Films has signed a pretty large deal with comic book artist Steve Niles, says The Hollywood Reporter. Mr. Niles will stay attached to the resulting films as a producer, as will actor Thomas Jane ("The Punisher"), who also plans to appear in the lot of ’em.

Author of "The Dark Country," "The Lurkers," "In the Blood," and a few titles as-yet-unreleased, Steve Niles is considered a leader among modern graphic novelists.

One of his projects, entitled "30 Days of Night," is presently in pre-production stages at Columbia Pictures. It’s about a gang of vampires who torment an Alaskan town for, you guessed it, thirty days of night.
