JoBlo: Wonder Woman Casting Director

Here’s a funny story: Since they’re a goofy and irreverent collection of movie geeks, the JoBlo guys posted an amusing little "April Fool’s!" joke last weekend. In a news entry that’s clearly meant to be a joke, JoBlo reported that Underworld star Kate Beckinsale had been cast in the lead role of Joss Whedon’s upcoming Wonder Woman flick. But then the IMDb’s news-feed repeated the info as "fact," every website on the planet caught wind of the "news," and now even Variety is reporting on the confusion!

So while some might say "good job on the April Fool’s joke," others might wonder exactly how careless most entertainment journalists are. In an effort to snag a new scoop, a bunch of people took a broad and obvious joke — and reported it as fact.

Anyway, Wonder-gal has not been cast yet. And next year, be sure to take any April 1st news reports with a grain of salt.
