Hugh Jackman Reports "Wolverine" Offer Out to Directors

On his press rounds for "The Prestige" and "Flushed Away" last month, Hugh Jackman promised reporters to have news on a director for the "Wolverine" film come the time of the "Fountain" junket. Unfortunately, he hasn’t locked one in yet.

"It is out to directors and no, I haven’t heard anything," Jackman said. "It’s hard because we’re approaching very A-list directors so you can’t give it to 20 of them at once."

The film, scripted by David Benioff, is a prequel telling how "Wolverine" got to where he was at the start of "X-Men." Still, in the comic book universe, you never know who might cross his path earlier in life. Jackman did not rule out cameos from other X-men. "It’s a prequel, so there won’t be many," he grinned.

Short of that, expect a whole new cast of friends and foes with whom Wolvy can go berserk. "There will be other new characters."
