Gyllenhaal and Eckhart to Show Up During "The Dark Knight"?

Boy, is there anything more fun that gossiping and speculating about which actors will get which supporting roles in the next superhero movies? Well, yeah, actually. There’s lots of things more fun. But this is what we do here at RT Newsday, so here’s the latest: Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal are the latest names to be tossed into the "Dark Knight" pool.

According to IGN Movies, Aaron Eckhart seems to be the newest front-runner to play Gotham district attorney Harvey Dent (aka the guy who eventually becomes the villainous Two-Face). Not long ago Ryan Phillippe was allegedly being semi-courted for the job, but Eckhart looks to be in the lead right now.

And in the latest round of "Who’ll Be Batman’s Gal?" we have a new name to offer: Could it be Maggie Gyllenhaal (and not Rachel McAdams or Emily Blunt) who’ll step into the role vacated by Tom Cruise’s former actress of a wife? Only time will tell. Plus, once they cast these roles and the cameras start shooting, most of the fun-time conjecture just washes away.

But yeah: Eckhart and Gyllenhaal. I’d be down with both of those picks.
