This week in TV news, Game of Thrones add a new Red Priestess to the cast, while Twin Peaks loses a fan-favorite actor. Also, Fox orders more Bob’s Burgers and CBS is developing a Nancy Drew series!

GAME OF THRONES CASTS MELANIE LIBURD AS ANOTHER RED PRIESTESS

[Warning: Contains season five Game of Thrones spoilers] Deadline reported Thursday that another Red Priestess is coming to Westeros. Game of Thrones has cast up-and-coming British actress Melanie Liburd (Grandfathered) to play a Red Woman, but there’s no reason to believe that Carice Van Houten, who currently plays Melisandre, will be leaving. In fact, if fan theories about the fate of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) are true, then Van Houten’s character definitely needs to be there! According to GoT fan site Watchers on the Wall, Liburd has been spotted donning red on the set in Spain, where Peter Dinklage and Conleth Hill are also known to be filming — so it’s likely that Liburn’s Red Woman will cross paths with Tyrion and Varys in season six.

A MAJOR ACTOR WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO TWIN PEAKS

Casting news continues to come in from the set of Showtime’s rebooted Twin Peaks, including the addition of Peter Sarsgaard and Amanda Seyfried. Unfortunately, one beloved cast member, Michael Ontkean, who starred as Sheriff Harry S. Truman, will not be returning. A source close to the actor told TV Line, “Michael is fully retired from show business, and has been for many years.” Rumors are spreading that Robert Forster (Heroes, Boogie Nights) will be stepping in, although it’s unclear if he will be playing Truman, or an altogether new character. Showtime will air the new season of Twin Peaks in 2017.

FOX ORDERS BOB’S BURGERS FOR SEASONS SEVEN AND EIGHT

Fox announced this week that it will be serving up two more seasons of its Emmy Award-winning animated series, Bob’s Burgers. “Six seasons in, the Belchers have become one of America’s most beloved TV families, and we are so happy to keep them in the fold for another two seasons,” said David Madden, President of Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company. “Bob’s Burgers is hilarious, warm, smart, inventive — critics love it, and so do fans.” Voiced by H. Jon Benjamin (Wet Hot American Summer), Dan Mintz (Nathan for You), Eugene Mirman (Flight of the Conchords), and Kristen Schaal (The Last Man on Earth), Bob’s Burgers is currently airing its sixth season, which is Fresh at 100 percent with 5 reviews, on Sunday nights at 7:30 p.m. on Fox.

CBS IS DEVELOPING A NANCY DREW DRAMA

While beloved teen sleuth Nancy Drew got her start on the written page, she’s been adapted a number of times, including a film series in the 1930s, a TV show with The Hardy Boys in the late 1970s, and most recently in the form of a teen movie starring Emma Roberts in 2007. Deadline reported this week that CBS is developing a new drama series with Grey’s Anatomy executive producers Joan Rater and Tony Phelan, along with Dan Jinks (American Beauty). A contemporary take on the character, the drama series will feature a grown-up Nancy Drew in her thirties, solving crimes as a detective for the NYPD, while dealing with the complexities of modern life.
