First-Time Director to Tackle Jim Thorpe

According to Variety, veteran cinematographer John Schwartzman is about to make his directorial debut. The project is a Walden-backed bio-pic about celebrated Native American football star Jim Thorpe, a guy who’s still remembered as one of the finest athletes who ever lived.

Walden Media has tapped cinematographer John Schwartzman to make his directorial debut on its Jim Thorpe football project, "Carlisle School."

Pic centers on a rag-tag team of Native American football players, led by Thorpe, who became famous for defeating some of the best football teams in the nation in the early 20th century."

As a D.P., Schwartzman’s flims include "Meet the Fockers," "Seabiscuit," "The Rookie," "Pearl Harbor," "Armageddon" and "The Rock.
