Comic-Con 2006: Kevin Smith on The Green Hornet and His TV Plans

Kevin Smith got a taste of San Diego’s traffic during Comic-Con this past Saturday when he was delayed for his scheduled panel in the afternoon. It went on with Rosario Dawson filling in for Smith, which was entertaining in and of itself, but for those who lined up for hours in the sweltering heat just to see him, it certainly was disappointing.

Dawson stands in for Kevin Smith and not doing too poorly a job at it.

Those who hung around for his appearance in the evening were rewarded, however. I got to say he has one of the best stand-up acts around. Very funny stuff, filled with all the profanities one hears in his movies. He even brought Jason Mewes along.

Below are some items of interest from his appearance.

The Green Hornet movie is on hold on indefinitely. Smith said with the standards of the comic books movie so high these days, he doesn’t have the skills to tackle a comic book movie as of yet. He admitted he couldn’t shoot action. He won’t make one until he feels he can make it on the level of Sam Raimi, for example.

Kevin Smith finally shows up with Jason Mewes.

"Bottoms Up," a movie with Smith and Mewes will probably go straight to DVD, bypassing a theatrical release.

As for any TV plans, Smith has none at the moment. His latest, "Clerks II" is currently playing in theaters.
